as required by law. Files, both written and electronic, are kept securely and only viewed by authorised medical personnel
responsible for your safe and effective care.
All tests, results and treatments are prescribed based on your Unique
Confidential ID and Date of Birth and not your name to ensure absolute privacy but also accuracy and fail-safe security of
care.

Sexually Tramsmitted Infections
Amongst young sexually active adults about 1
in 3 women and 1 in 5 men may have a silent sexually transmitted disease and infections such as Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia are
much more common than most people realise and infections such as Syphyllis are more recently on the rise.
They can also cause serious health problems
such as pelvic inflammatory disease. The discomfort and embarrassment of STIs can be distressing for individuals
and damaging to relationships and for high profile business people, public figures and celebrities accessing Sexual Health
Services may attract unfavourable public and media interest.

Home Urine Sampling Kits now availble on the internet
Fortunately it is now possible
to screen for many of these bacterial infections in both men and women using a laboratory technique called
PCR on a single urine sample. This means that it is now possible to order a postal pack from the
internet to allow someone to send a postal urine sample to screen for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma ,
Trichomonas Vaginalis, Gardnerella Vaginalis and Herpes Simplex Virus I and II. Results
come back by email or confidential text message. If the results are negative no further action is required and if they are
positive then either private referral can be arranged or the patient can make their own arrangements via their GP or local
NHS GUM Clinic.
